| Theme - World Trade in Services: Opening, Cooperation, Development
The Forum on World Trade in Services is a global meeting place to survey what it is like in China throughout the years of its WTO membership, with particular focuses on the opening, cooperation and development in the sector of trade in services. The Forum introduces what is going on in the WTO negotiations on trade in services under Doha Development Agenda, and demonstrates China's positive participation in the WTO Doha Negotiations. The Forum also explores the relationship between the globalization of trade in services and the development of the services sector, presenting the current situations of and the prospects for services trade in Shanghai. What's more important, the Forum offers a glimpse into the business opportunities created with the development of Shanghai's services sector in general and with the World Expo 2010 Shanghai in particular.
Date - 9-10 June, 2005
The Forum takes place at a time when the APEC Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Trade is to be held in Jeju, Korea (2-3 June) and the WTO/UNESCAP Regional Seminar on Trade in Services to be held in Shanghai, China (6-8 June). This Forum attests China¡¯s active involvement in pushing forward the WTO Doha Negotiations on trade in services on the one hand and Shanghai¡¯s dedication to developing its services sector on the other.

Shanghai is one of the most economically advanced and internationally developed cities in China. Since the turn of the century, the city has been restructuring its industrial composition, and services trade and services sector are expected to play an increasingly important role in Shanghai's social and economic development. In addition, the World Expo 2010 Shanghai will provide services firms at home and abroad with tremendous investment opportunities in Shanghai.
