Postscript

　　 Here I would like to acknowledge the support to the writing of the Report on Shanghai's Social and Economic Development in relation to China's Accession to the WTO, received from relevant government ministries, departments, offices and bureaus, as well as trade associations and large enterprises. Besides, Professor Gao Yongfu, Professor Feng Jun and Professor Gong Baihua made value suggestions for revision. As all the statistics quoted in the report were obtained in early 2003, in case of discrepancy from those officially released by the State Statistics Bureau, the latter shall prevail.
